A large land based trade routes that linked agrarian people, pastoral people, and large civilizations all thought out Eurasia.
Black Death
A period of time were and epidemic of bubonic plague and strains similar to it spread though out Europe and Asia through trading routes, killing off more than one-third of the population.
Indian Ocean Trading Network
A sea based trading network that distant people through out the Eastern Hemisphere, stretching from South China to Eastern Africa.
Srivijaya
A kingdom that owned a critical point in the Indian Ocean trade were all of the ships going to or from China have to pass through for the quickest route. They were ruled by one monarch.
Borobudur
A large complex Buddhist temple that was built on the island of Java probably in the ninth century.
Swahili Civilization
A civilization located in East Africa and emerged in the beginning of the eight century and was a collection of city-states that stretched along the coast of Africa. They flourished from 1000 to 1500 C.E, participated in the Indian Ocean Trade and voluntary became Islamic.
Great Zimbabwe
A civilization located south of the Swahili civilization that flourished between 1250 and 1350. Was in an area rich with gold and cattle.
Sand Roads
Land based trading routes that went across the Sahara Desert and connected West Africa to the Mediterranean and North Africa.
Ghana, Mali, and Songhay
Ghana: A kingdom that emerged by the Niger River Valley that later got absorbed by the Mali Empire.
