Neo-liberalism
A spreading view that the whole world was a single market.
Reglobalization
An acceleration in the interactions (trading, migration) between counties and an increase in the world economy.
Transnational Corporations
Big global businesses or corporations that made goods or gave services in multiply countries.
North/South Gap
A gap between the advancing rich countries in the Global North (mainly North America and Europe) and the developing poor countries of the south (ex: Africa)
Anti-globalization
A movement aimed at discriminating and counteracting against globalization (mainly made up of those who felt threatened by it or left behind)
Prague Spring
A movement started in Czechoslovakia were reforms were made "aimed at creating 'socialism with a human face' " but was later destroyed by the Soviet.
Che Guevara
A leader of multiply revolutions in the third world that used guerrilla warfare to try and attempt "to replicate its (Cuban Revolution) experience of liberation"
Second-wave Feminism
A movement in the 1960's that tried to gain privileges and rights for women that were equal to those of men.
Fundamentalism
A response of some religions to modernization and globalization were they looked back on the fundamentals of their religion and rejected some modern aspects.
Hindutva
A fundamentalism movement in India were people looked at India as a still Hindu land despite being conquered.
Islamic Renewal
The revival of Islam into societies in the Islam world.
Osama bin Laden/al-Qaeda
The leader of the group al-Qaeda that first gave resources and troops to the Afghanistan resistance then became radicalized and launched scattered attacks on any country that had Western interest.
Global Warming
The concept that globalization is causing more pollutants (ex: CO2) to be released into the atmosphere and the cutting down of trees limited the amount of the green house gases being absorbed, leading to the atmosphere becoming warmer.
Environmentalism
The consciousness of the environment and trying to keep it healthy.
