Wang Mang
A high court official that usurped the emperor in 8 C.E. When emperor, Wang Mang started to pass all of these laws and reforms in effort to re-create a golden age of China. He was later assassinated 23 C.E and reforms collapsed.
China's Scholar-gentry class
A class of large land-owning families that lived luxuriously, and benefited off of their wealth from their land and education and membership of official elites from passing the exam that they took about 5 Confucius classes.
Yellow Turban Rebellion
A large rebellion that was a collection of wandering peasants that joined together as natural disasters and epidemics started to take place. They were crushed by the Han military but helped in the cause of the Han dynasty collapsing a few decadeslater.
Caste as Varna and Jati
Caste as Varna: The idea that society was divided into four ranked classes (associated with the body of Purusha, known as twice born), the Brahmins (top rank, priest), the Kshatriya (second rank, warriors), the Vaisya (third rank, commoners), and the Sudra (fourth rank, peasants). A rank even lower than the Sudra were the untouchables that did all of the dirty work (not associated with the body of Purusha)

A part of the Indian social system were someone of a higher rank cannot touch someone of a lower rank for fear of becoming impure or make a ritual unclean.

A slave gladiator that created a large slave rebellion in 73 C.E that lasted for two years until they were overcome by Roman legions.

The only women to rule China under the name emperor. Reigned from 690 C.E to 705 C.E and made the civil examination service choose officials and other positions to.

Aspasia: A rich women born in Miletus that was educated. She found her way to Athens and was the wife of Pericles

A class of people that were committed to servitude. They were usually from conquered neighbors of Sparta and to keep them from rebelling, they took away the boys of the family at age 7 and trained them military ways and the ways of war until released at age 30.
